Rivers People Are With Fubara’ – Peter Odili

Former Rivers State Governor, Peter Odili, has declared that the people of the state are solidly behind Governor Siminalayi Fubara amid the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State.
Odili made the statement following the renewed political tension between Governor Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
Speaking at an event in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, the former governor assured Fubara of the unwavering support of Rivers people, urging him to remain steadfast despite the challenges.
According to Odili, the citizens of the state recognise Fubara as their political leader and are ready to stand by him. He said the people had mandated him to relay their message of solidarity to the governor.
“Your people are with you, and they asked me to tell you that you are the political leader of Rivers State,” Odili stated. “Wherever you go, we will go with you. Wherever you stand, we will stand with you. You are standing on firm ground. Stand there and hold on to God.”
Meanwhile, former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has advised Governor Fubara to avoid escalating his political feud with Wike.
Fayose gave the warning during an interview on Arise Television on Tuesday, stressing that reconciliation would be a more prudent approach than prolonged confrontation.
He cautioned the Rivers governor to act carefully, noting that political conflicts often have far-reaching implications. Fayose also reminded Fubara that the powers of the Rivers State House of Assembly cannot be weakened or ignored, regardless of political differences.
According to him, the legislature remains a vital arm of government whose authority must be respected at all times.
