Nigerian singer and one-half of music duo P-Square, Peter Okoye, has expressed deep sorrow following the tragic death of two close members of Anthony Joshua’s team in a road accident in Ogun State.
Okoye took to social media to mourn the deceased and send words of comfort to the British-Nigerian heavyweight boxer, praying for strength for everyone affected by the devastating incident.
He wrote:
“This accident has shattered me completely. Latz & Sina, I can’t believe you’re gone. Why? To my brother @AnthonyJoshua, my heart breaks for you. Latz & Sina will forever live in our memories and in the love they left behind. Even in the middle of this storm, we are grateful to God for sparing your life. May He comfort you, guide you, and help you carry their legacy with pride and strength. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Stay strong, brother.”
How the Crash Happened
The accident reportedly occurred on Monday along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway in the Makun area. The SUV carrying Joshua and his team collided with a stationary truck on the highway.
Two of Joshua’s close aides — Sina Ghami, his strength and conditioning coach, and Latif Ayodele, also known as Latz, who served as his long-time personal trainer — died on the spot.
Joshua, a former two-time world heavyweight champion, and the vehicle’s driver sustained minor injuries and were rushed to hospital, where reports say he is currently stable.
Officials have since begun investigating the cause of the crash, with early findings pointing to possible speeding and loss of control while attempting to overtake.
Reactions from Government
The Ogun State Government described the crash as tragic and urged motorists to obey traffic rules to prevent similar incidents.
President Bola Tinubu also extended condolences to Anthony Joshua and families of the deceased, praying for comfort during this difficult time.
