Aba, Abia State—Cheers and celebrations filled Aba on Wednesday as Hon. Christopher Igboko Okoroafor officially declared his intention to contest the Aba South/North Federal Constituency seat on the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
The popular businessman and philanthropist picked up the party’s Expression of Interest form for the 2026 cycle ahead of the 2027 general elections. The development drew a large turnout of supporters and NDC faithful, many of whom said his entry strengthens the party’s chances of winning back the seat from the Labour Party.
Okoroafor, who hails from Ugwuoke in Bende LGA but has lived and worked in Aba for years, said his long-standing presence in the constituency gives him firsthand insight into the realities of residents across neighborhoods and markets.
He currently heads ONE WITH GOD VISION LOGISTICS SERVICES NIG. LTD. as Managing Director/CEO and is a financial member of the NDC in Aba South Ward 12. Party members attribute the early momentum behind his candidacy to his years of grassroots involvement and community support initiatives.
“His connection with the people in Aba Central is personal,” said a party source. “He is known, trusted, and his people-first approach has sparked genuine optimism since he stepped forward.”
The campaign team disclosed that Okoroafor remains the only NDC aspirant for Aba South/North to have obtained the Expression of Interest form to date. Backing his bid are two active grassroots groups the Royal Ambassadors Family Support Group for Obi/Kwakwanso Movement 2027 and the Village to Villa Ambassadors Movement 2027 who have committed to mobilizing voters ward by ward.
With his structure and reach, the team believes the NDC is well-placed to defeat the sitting representative and surpass candidates from the APC and ADC in the race.
Party supporters are now urging the NDC leadership to consider Okoroafor’s track record and local appeal during the primaries, saying his reputation and grassroots base offer the party its best path to victory.
Okoroafor is married with seven children, among them two medical doctors and one engineer.
