Social commentator Isaac Fayose, brother of former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose, has claimed that neither the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, nor Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara can deliver Rivers State to the All Progressives Congress (APC) or President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election without electoral manipulation.
Fayose made the remarks in a video shared on his Facebook page on Saturday, where he reacted to the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State while speaking in a blend of English and Pidgin.
According to him, both political heavyweights lack the influence needed to secure a genuine electoral victory in the state.
“Let’s not deceive ourselves. Neither Wike nor Fubara can win Rivers State for APC or Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 without rigging. The only ones that can do that are INEC and the police — not Wike, not Fubara,” Fayose said.
He argued that the ongoing feud between the former governor and his successor has little to do with governance or the welfare of Rivers residents, but is instead driven by a struggle for control of state resources.
Fayose alleged that Governor Fubara has accumulated substantial savings, which he claims Wike is interested in accessing, describing this as the real source of their disagreement.
The social commentator further maintained that neither faction enjoys the grassroots support necessary to secure victory for the APC in Rivers State, particularly if the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, contests the 2027 election.
“If Peter Obi is on the ballot in 2027, neither Wike nor Fubara will be able to secure up to 25 per cent of the votes for APC in Rivers State,” he claimed.
Fayose also played down recent political tours and engagements by the rival camps, describing them as ineffective and largely dependent on financial inducements rather than genuine popular backing.
“All these tours they are doing to share money among people in poverty are not even up to 30,000 persons. The real voters in Rivers State are simply watching them,” he added.
